You've not known hostility until you've gotten it from an inanimate object. And yes, I'm new! To this place and uh [ with some hesitation ] time. Is that, Is that your deal too? I mean, the time thing.

Something like that. In fact, I'm not sure how my place and time connects to this one at all. I wasn't expecting to find humans in a place like this. Maybe after centuries...

[After all, when the Cold War ended in Akin's world with a massive nuclear exchange that would have wiped out humanity had it not attracted curious aliens, seeing humans as a technological civilization is a bit surprising. And fascinating.]
