Oh.

[ Shrug. Zoe can deal with that. Some people are tourists, after all, and Benji's always telling her not to judge people by how they look. (Though seriously, that armor? Way too heavy.)

But the woman looks friendly enough, and Zoe manages a smile. ] So where're you from?

[neverknocks]

Uh, technically? Earth. But, uh...maybe not the Earth you're thinkin' of. If you're thinking of one.

[ Do they even have an Earth in this universe? Where the shit are they? Space station, okay, she gets it, but where. ]

All right, it's kinda complicated.

No way, you're from Earth?

[ Zoe grins, completely ignoring the rest of it-- it can't be that important. She doesn't like thinking about the state Earth's in right now, and what things must be like back home, but anyone from Earth's good with her. ]

[neverknocks]

Yeah, uh, the States. Jersey, actually. Is that weird?

[ Please don't let it be weird. Or let it be weird. One way or the other, York just has to know what the shit kind of universe she's in. ]

Huh? Why would it be weird?

[ You're kind of weird, is what she'd add, but Zoe has been trying to keep that brain-to-mouth filter working more often. She's had enough lectures from her sister. ]

I don't think it's weird. If you want weird, try Arizona. That's where I grew up.

Oh -- huh, really? I dunno, just seemed like you were surprised, me being from Earth.

[ Okay, so being from Earth is not weird. Well, that's good. ]

You spend a lot of time around here?

[ York's still not sure how honest she can be about her situation, but maybe the woman will let a few things slip that'll give her a clue as to where she is. ]

Well-- you know. You don't see too many people from home these days.

[ The war's a pretty sobering topic, though, and Zoe's been doing her best not to dwell on it. When your day job is fighting the front lines of a galactic war, sometimes you need a break.

She scoffs at the other question, nose wrinkling. ]

What, on Omega? No way. This is not where I would have picked to go on leave.

Yeah, it's not exactly my top vacation spot, either.

[ At least she knows what this place is called now. She's still not sure what the status of Earth is here, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to ask.

York offers a hand, though, figuring that after this much conversation she might as well introduce herself. ]

I'm York, by the way.

Zoe.

[ Zoe takes her hand, but her expression just gets more confused, her nose scrunching up. ]

Why's your name York if you're from Jersey?

[neverknocks]

York shakes her hand anyway, though, letting out a snort. ]

Man, don't ask me. I didn't pick it.

[ Zoe shrugs, leaving the topic there, and instead rests her hand on her hip as she looks over the other woman's armor. ]

So what're you doing on Omega? And seriously, have you seen anywhere around here with decent food?

[neverknocks]

I'm, uh...still tryin' to figure that out myself. Honestly, I really haven't been here long enough to get a good look around.

Huh. Well, okay.

[ Zoe beams up at her, not bothered by that in the last. ]

Then I guess we're in the same boat. Wanna help me look?

[neverknocks]

What, you've never been here before either?

[ York gives her a little grin, though, nodding. ]

Yeah, all right. Not a bad plan, honestly, place like this. Just do me a favor, will you? You see anybody else in armor like this, you let me know.
