TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the
outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.

Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.
φ Please give the name and canon of your character in the subject line! OCs and AUs are welcome.
φ You may use threads from this post as a log sample, so long as it has at least 5 of your comments in action tags or prose.
φ You can keep CR from this meme if both players agree to it OOCly, and so long as you keep interactions to these starting areas.
φ Apps open on 1/27; the game opens 2/2.
φ You can find more information on our setting here, and our navigation is here!

[--he can't deny that she's Shepard. He just can't. Over their years together, intimate and otherwise, he'd grown to know her so well that he couldn't deny that possibility. Not with the evidence mounting around him and the panic that rolled off these other arrivals in droves. All he can do, and it's really to make himself feel better in a fit of petty childishness, is respond to her in a cold voice]
You are not my commander.
well i hope this is less shitty than i think it is but my brain's breaking over this damn tag
but this is Garrus. so, what control?]
You really don't recognize me.
[it's not a question.
sure, credentials can be faked. easily. there's proof enough of that with those stupid illegal Shepard VIs running around. but she'd been sure there would just be...something that would convince him--]
she won't give up. she can't. she needs him to believe.
Shepard's passion and voice both starts rising again, but this time there's an edge that's less anger and more...]
Vigil. Saren, Harbinger, Sidonis, Menae, Rannoch-- We went through all of that together, like we promised we always would.
[...desperation.]
You and Tali stuck with me even when I was working with Cerberus, never mind the rest of the insane crap we found ourselves in! I really could have been altered when the Illusive Man brought me back, but you stayed anyway. What's so different about now? My face? My gender?
HUSH
[She's right in so many different ways, that Garrus can't help the shiver that runs up from his gut and all the way through his carapace. So much is different, yet so much isn't and putting it into words is just impossible]
[And let it be known that Garrus Vakarian has hardly ever been at a loss for words]
[Every fiber of his being tells him this is Shepard. That the desperation in her all too familiar voice is heartbreakingly sincere]
You.
[That needs a bit more explanation. Garrus takes a moment to cobble the words together in his head before delivering, his voice losing that razor edge, which is in turn replaced with a hollow dismay. He tries to hide it as best he can, but what with the various stresses of today and the person (or sham of the person?) he's speaking to, it's hard.]
I mean, the way you look, your name. You.
You're not my commander. I'm sorry.
no subject
Sorry.
[it's hard to tell what exactly she's apologizing for. losing her temper? if asked, she would have confessed that it would be for a lot of things. probably not being who he expected, or who anyone expected. pushing him when she'd promised him once that she never would, too.
no point dwelling on it. that's not what she does. this is how it is, and it's time to deal.]
Okay. I'm sorry about that. There isn't a lot making sense right now, so...just. [she sighs, a little aggravated with herself since she suddenly doesn't know how to finish that sentence.]
Everyone's adjusting. [raising her hands defensively:] I'm not your commander, but I'm still Shepard. I hope that's an okay middle ground, with time. [as an afterthought, accompanied by a shrug:] Or someone will figure out what's going on and everyone can go back to where we're supposed to be.
[ she drops a bit of the formal demeanor, the one she wears to sympathize with others she's not particularly close to. it's a subtle difference, but...] Either way, I won't trouble you.
[with a stiff nod and a smile she doesn't feel, Shepard starts walking off, waving]
Catch you around, Vakarian.
no subject
Raquel! Wait.
[He gently grabs her wrist, giving it a light, yet almost desperate tug]
[He's not sure why, honestly. What else could he possibly have to say to her?]
no subject
...Yeah?
no subject
...Take care of yourself, all right?
[...nooot that they're any good]
no subject
No promises.
[patting his hand amiably]
no subject
Yeah, guess not.
I'll see you around. Need to go clear my head.
