Welcome to the outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.


Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.

Let me guess. No omni-tool.

[summoning her own into light, she sweeps it in front of the door, which ceases its incessant opening and closing, and makes the pleasing series of blips indicating it now being locked.]

You came off the shuttles, didn't you?

That's what this thing is right?

[He does have one. It glows to life on his arm after a moment. All the new arrivals showed up with them but Steve hasn't played with it too much. He scrutinizes what she does with a frown. These things lock doors too? Is there anything they don't do?]

Yeah, I did. Along with a member of my team.

[Who for some reason he's actually living with.]

It's lucky that you're not here on your own, then. Could be a lot worse, otherwise.

[nodding at the omni-tool]

That's the one. It might take a little getting used to; it's...more or less intuitive.

[she shrugs, smiling in a way that just says 'SIGH technology, right?']

If you want, we could get a drink and I'll show you a few pointers.

Think I'd feel a little lonely. I can handle myself otherwise.

[Well, now he knows what the thing is called. He'll have to actually figure out how to use it properly.]

Appreciate it, I haven't toyed with it yet. I've never been big on technology.

[Sigh technology indeed. He'll shrug in return and then he smiles, nodding. He might not be able to get drunk but he can still enjoy himself with some companionship.]

That sounds great. Anything to get out of here for awhile.

It's always easier being thrown in a weird situation with a friend. Speaking of which- [without stopping, she offers her hand] -I'm Commander Shepard. Welcome to Omega.

Yeah, it is but we're still on shaky terms.

[He sighs but Steve does follow her as she heads out. So far she's been friendlier than most of the actual inhabitants of this universe. He's still working off the hypothesis she belongs here more than the rest of them do.

He takes her hand--his grip firm and steady.]

Captain Steve Rogers, I appreciate the welcome.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you can work things out.

[she grins at the introduction because she's getting a good feeling about this guy. reminds her a bit of Kaidan.]

Captain. Who're you with, Marines?

We'll do our best. It takes time to get a team to work together sometimes.

[The Commandos had just fallen into place naturally but the Avengers is an entirely different ball-game.]

I was with army--107th infantry. We were on the ground in World War II. I was recruited through a special program so I technically work with a different division.

[she snorts mirthlessly] Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

[her steps falter for a second as she tries not to show how shocked she is]

The war's been over for awhile.

[Like seventy years give or take.]

I don't believe the 107th exists as anything but a support group now. I couldn't say for sure. I'm a little behind the times. It's... complicated.
