TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the
outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.

Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.
φ Please give the name and canon of your character in the subject line! OCs and AUs are welcome.
φ You may use threads from this post as a log sample, so long as it has at least 5 of your comments in action tags or prose.
φ You can keep CR from this meme if both players agree to it OOCly, and so long as you keep interactions to these starting areas.
φ Apps open on 1/27; the game opens 2/2.
φ You can find more information on our setting here, and our navigation is here!

Look, I know it sounds crazy. Makes me feel crazy just talkin' about it. But this place? Honest to god, I don't know a damn thing about this universe, or -- no offense, buddy -- what kind of alien you even are. Definitely don't look like any of the ones we've been fighting back home, at least. But hey, if you've got an alternate explanation, I'd be dyin' to hear it.
[ And she looks at him, eyebrows raised, because please, Garrus. Make her day. ]
no subject
[None of that explains his own befuddlement upon arrival, but hey, if he's finally going crazy, at least he'll have someone here worse off than he is.]
[Unless of course she's telling the truth.]
[The fact that, in the back of his mind, he's giving it at least some consideration doesn't sit right with him, either.]
no subject
[ But it doesn't look like she's making much of a dent in his formidable (and understanding) skepticism. York shrugs, pulling away form the wall. ]
But the more I insist on it, the crazier I sound to you, am I right? Doesn't really matter if you believe it or not, anyway, 'cause it doesn't change much.
[ For someone spouting what sounds like a whole host paranoid delusions, she seems pretty calm about the fact, and not too desperate to convince him otherwise. She might not like it, but she's evidently pretty confident in her own reality. And she gives him a sheepish half-grin, raising an eyebrow hopefully. ]
Could still use some directions, though?
no subject
[Garrus will keep an eye on this one]
Sure thing. Where're you headed?
no subject
But she just looks around, letting out a breath, and shakes her head. ]
Man, I don't know. I was just checkin' the place out, managed to get myself turned around a little. Guess I wouldn't mind you pointing me in the direction of the nearest bar.
[ THERE HAD BETTER BE A BAR ON THIS STATION ]
no subject
That one's easy-- just keep walking anywhere and you'll run into one in a few minutes or so.
Now, finding one that doesn't hate humans is a different story. I suggest keeping away from anywhere that has a decently high batarian customer ratio.
no subject
Right, right. Avoid the batarians, got it.
You're gonna have to point out which ones those are.
no subject
[...Please let it be an act. PLEASE.]
no subject
She rolls her eyes, voice thick with sarcasm. ]
Oh, yeah. Real thick. Humor me.
no subject
C'mon.
no subject
So since you're goin' to all the trouble, I figure I at least owe you a name.
[ She lifts one hand, in case he might want to take it. Do these aliens do handshakes? Fuck if she knows. ]
Most people call me York.
no subject
You can call me Garrus, York.
no subject
[ Still, she's got that relaxed quality to her voice, and there's sort of a natural shrug in the way she moves. She glances at him, peering at his face thoughtfully. ]
And I guess there's no tactful way to ask this, but what do you call your kind, anyway?
no subject
[And, really, there shouldn't be a human alive that doesn't know that]
[That's unsettling. To say the least]
C'mon. Let's get you to that bar, and a quick look at a few batarians.
[:> Additionally, would you like to carry this CR over to the game provided Garrus gets in?]
YOU BET I WOULD
[ York squints at him almost curiously for a moment, studying his features. Then she nods, giving him a lopsided grin. ]
So are all you turians this friendly, or did I just get lucky today?
[ If you think she's poking fun at you, she probably is. But she means well by it, honest. Well, mostly. ]
no subject
Either way, I'd say you definitely got lucky that I'm the one you met.
[Ah yes, ego.]
no subject
Well, I guess I'm not totally shit out of luck yet, then. It's a stretch, though.
[ It was months and months ago, but thinking of the day she'd been snatched from her own universe -- it still stings a little, thinking about what she's left behind, even if she's already moved on and let herself mourn it. She shrugs again, the movement looking fluid and easy even in her bulky armor. ]
Universe takes all kinds, huh?
no subject
[He motions with his head towards a wonderfully seedy looking bar]
This looks like a prime spot for trouble.
no subject
[ it is probably not physically or linguistically possible to cram any more sarcasm into those five words than she already has
She heads toward the bar with Garrus, though, trying to take in every bit of information she can. Good lord, does this place have aliens. Still, she'll take any of these over the Covenant. ]
So what do you drink around here, anyway?
no subject
[He caught that sarcasm, York. And he's pretty impressed by it, too]
By the way, if you look to your left, you'll find yourself a whole group of batarians. Just don't make it obvious. Or catch any of their eyes.
no subject
And okay, she knows how to be discreet. Discretion is kind of her job. Well, eh, sort of. Still, she manages a careful glance at the batarians out of the corner of her eye -- a hell of a lot easier now that she's got both of them working -- and she gives Garrus a slight nod. ]
Ah, yeah, I've seen 'em around. Good to know that's what they're called.
[ And as for the drinks -- well, York just gives him a grin and shrugs. ]
You seem like you've got better taste than most of the poor suckers around here. C'mon, I'm open to suggestions.
no subject
[Which is, again, common knowledge. Just like the batarians.]
[Either she's a damn good, determined actress, or he needs to start poking around]
no subject
Guess we don't eat the same food, then.
[ They approach the bar and York takes a seat, glancing around for a moment. ]
Guess I'll just have to trust the bartender, then.
no subject
[He does what could only be described as a stilted eyebrow quirk, his stiff plates not allowing for much movement]
Except for that last part. I'll get you something that someone I know orders a bunch. You look like you can handle it.
no subject
Well, shit, I think that's the nicest thing anybody's said about me all day.
[ On both counts. This place isn't very friendly okay.
York sits back a little to let Garrus do the ordering, her gaze still moving around the bar, drinking in the details. ]
So you still think I'm a lunatic?
