Welcome to the outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.


Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.

I haven't been here long enough to bother, but if we're going to be stuck here for the long haul, I suppose we'll have to get some eventually.

[ He shrugs and pulls up the omni-tool someone gave him when he landed, flipping through it to page for more information; he still has the wearable from Sacrosanct (which he had switched to his other arm, for lack of anywhere else to keep it), and the technology was startlingly similar, but the wearable was basically useless here without a familiar network to connect to. ]

I just came from a place not too different from this one, but there was effectively no economy on Sacrosanct. It's different here. Look around, Lina. Almost everyone's either a thug, cutthroat merchant, or otherwise representative of what we'd generally call the criminal underbelly, except it's all out in the open. Amelia would have a conniption.

[ Though he's trying to play it cool after another reuinion with Lina following a long hiatus, he can't help but smirk as she's caving in to the desires of her insatiable stomach. Was she even going to listen to anything he has to say until she finished a feeding cycle? ]

[ SHE'S TRYING, OKAY. It helps that most of the street food around here looks...well, like it was just scraped off the street. Ugh. Not exactly appetizing.

Okay okay she's not interested in your lectures about the criminal underworld, Zel, because what you are saying makes no sense. Lina waves her hands at him, shaking her head. ]

Whoa, okay, back up, Zel! You think I don't know a bunch of mercenaries when I see them? I don't care about that. I care about you explaining all about this Sacrosanct place.

[ She needs to know where you've been, okay. Especially someplace without an economy! She has to know -- how did that work? Was it some sort of commune? Was the food there any good? ]

What? Why do you care about some place you'll probably never go to? I think it's better if we deal with where we are now.

[ Most of the posts he finds on the extranet are junk and chatter, and there's certainly a lot more of it than he's used to seeing, so he isn't even looking at Lina while she's flailing. He sifts through them the best he can, though. ]

I think our best bet to make some money is to go do someone else's dirty work. There's a lot of fighting going on here, and a lot of credits up for grabs in this protection business. [ He gives her a wry grin; being away from their home world has changed his outlook, slightly. ] I'll probably fit right in with everyone else here.

Yeah, this is probably the one place nobody's going to look at you twice, what with all the...aliens.

[ They still look like beastmen to her okay. And dammit Zel you know there's nothing Lina hates more than not knowing stuff but this place is interesting enough that she'll drop it. For now. ]

This place is all right for now, but it looks like it's just full of mercenaries and bandits. Not exactly my scene for too long.

You might not have much of a choice. It looks like we passed here through a dimensional gate that's effectively one-way. [ sigh. why is this familiar. ] That's probably why I ended up here, since I was attempting to tamper with another broken gate.

[ He switches off the omni-tool display and looks around at the varied crowd. ]

It seems there's a mercenary group called the Talons that are shorthanded these days, and are looking to hire extra firepower. I'm going to go see if I'm up to their hiring standards.
