Welcome to the outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.

[Akin was too busy being fascinated to be worried that he had no idea what was going on or how he had come from an Oankali shuttle to this place... (or what had happened to the poor, lonely, shuttle)]

[The place smelled, and the sensory tentacles on his legs were careful not to brush too many surfaces -- he was already picking up far more toxins through his feet than he normally managed. But it was obviously a machine and, if not human built, one occupied by humans that had far more tools than even the ones described to him from before their war. Between that and the presence of species he'd never heard of, he was content to walk the spaces of Omega, looking around and trying to strike up conversations. he was aware enough to avoid humans with threatening body language, but otherwise he was letting things happen as the whim struck him.]

(OOC: Feel free to respond to a greeting or catch him examining... well, probably anything.)

[ ok really chuck should know better than to walk around with his cellphone out in a crowd but (and this is a very important but!) he's in a space station. with aliens. with hologram tool things. he's pretty sure that if anyone tried to steal his pitifully low-tech phone, said thief would just throw it back at chuck and demand compensation for wasting that effort on such a worthless item.

unfortunately he didn't count on the contents of his phone catching unwanted attention, said contents being a picture of his not!girlfriend which. he had to admit, at least the space thugs currently threatening to cave his skull in if he didn't explain where this woman can be found has taste. but (another very important but!) ] She's not here. Not in the passed away sense or ghostly sense but in the not actually located in this galaxy and possibly this era sense. And even if she were, I'm not going to tell you - and she's a woman who is perfectly capable of taking of herself -

[ he's just getting himself into more trouble here so when he hears Akin's greeting which was probably for someone else, he takes it as an out ] Oh look, someone I know and who'll be a witness to what you might try to do is here! Hate to be rude but I- [ and he turns to Akin ] I'll be right there man! [ his mouth is saying 'yeah we're good' but his eyes are saying 'back me up' ]

[Akin is good with body language. Including figuring out that, hey, those guys are probably violent and this guy is asking for help, even if he's not saying so. So he approaches]

I'm not interrupting something important am I?

[This would be one of those times when he wished he took more after human males than Oankali. He could look confident, and he knew how to defend himself, but he knew humans (and probably other species) set some store in physical height and bulk.]

[ yikes ok he wanted an out not drag in some poor uninvolved soul into getting hurt with him ] Nah, just making some new friends here. [ he smiles weakly back at his new pals who look like they're contemplating taking the term "friends cut" very very literally ] But we've got somewhere to be right? Over there. Way past over there.

[ if he has to, he'll grab this other guy and run. ]

Right. Let's be on our way.

[Akin takes the arm of the other man, as if they are going to walk off, but he's keeping himself slightly farther back, in case these thugs decided to try to stop them. If not, he's going to walk brisky enough without running.]

[ when they're at a good distance away, chuck turns to face Akin ] Thanks. Seriously, thank you. [ breathing a sigh of relief and running a hand down his face ] I don't know if you actually saved my life because I mean. That could have been friendly on their part. Friendly joshing that involved a lot of mentions of body parts and things going into body parts and lots of use of the word flesh but. You did save me from finding out. So again. Thank you!

And I'm sorry that you kind of got pulled in. I really owe you.

[Akin smiled at him, which also lead to a brief flattening of his head-tentacles against his head]

I'm glad to help. Those people looked like they didn't have good intentions. You're also new here, right?

[ chuck smiles back, all open friendliness like well. a golden retriever puppy. he can't help but to glance at the tentacles though. don't ask don't ask don't ask. or would not asking be even more rude? ] Yeah actually it doesn't seem like there's anything here with good intentions. You've not known hostility until you've gotten it from an inanimate object. And yes, I'm new! To this place and uh [ with some hesitation ] time. Is that, Is that your deal too? I mean, the time thing.

[ he's noticed that some people who were also on the shuttle seems to know this place ]

Something like that. In fact, I'm not sure how my place and time connects to this one at all. I wasn't expecting to find humans in a place like this. Maybe after centuries...

[After all, when the Cold War ended in Akin's world with a massive nuclear exchange that would have wiped out humanity had it not attracted curious aliens, seeing humans as a technological civilization is a bit surprising. And fascinating.]
