[Oh yes someone who might be able to share in his complete disbelief he's even here- ]

Captain America?!

[Peter's gone from pretty confused to shocked at the get up and not in a 'oh it's tacky' kind of way. His fingers still grip his backpack tight but he's got all his attention on the hero in front of him.]

[More than might, kid. Steve could hardly wrap his head around the idea the chitauri had been from space. He looks a bit surprised that a random person would know who he is but then again, he is in uniform.]

What gave it away?

[His surprise morphs into a small smile. He's trying to be relaxed but publicity and being fawned over never really suited Steve all that well. Nice and easy.

He raises his hand for a handshake.]

Captain Steve Rogers, pleasure to meet you.

[And Peter almost forgets what a handshake is for a minute there, awkwardly he surges forward to shake the offered hand, quick and nothing special]

Peter Parker, nice to meet you.

[He replies almost automatically, just like his Aunt May taught him.]

[His own handshake is firm and tight. He's a soldier and he has a presence; he can't help it. He's not trying to be intimidating.]

So Peter, you new to all of this too?

[He makes a vague gesture at the space station around him. Please say yes. He doesn't even want to know how someone from here knows about Captain America.]

[After the handshake, his hand is back to the bag but more casually, obviously being around Captain Freaking America calms him down a hair.]

Yeah.. this is really new to me.

[Heck he's not even sure how he got here but he knows he's not dreaming, he's got the pinch marks to prove it.]

[Well that's a relief at least. He doesn't have to figure out how a human on a space station who knows how far from Earth knows him.]

Glad I'm not alone for once. Have you stumbled across anyone you know?

[Because he has, he's just not sure yet whether that's a good thing or a bad thing]

[Peter shakes his head, pursing his lips together as he thinks]

Not anyone I know, uh well I did run into Tony Stark but that's more of a... well your acquaintance than mine.

[Oh good, people are associating him with Tony. Just what he wants except not, not when he doesn't think the man believes in their team.]

Yeah, we've spoken. [Steve concedes with a frown--there had been minor insults exchanged. They aren't exactly best buds.] He's going to get himself into trouble.

[Which will somehow end up Steve's problem, just you wait and see.]

No offense but I think he already did. I mean he's here with you... do you know how we got here?

[He asks, ducking his head a moment before running a hand quickly through his hair.]

I mean, I don't remember walking through any space portals or something like that.

Can't fault him for that. [Small head shake.] Not when there are plenty of people around that shouldn't be here. Nobody seems to know why, either. Until whatever brought us here tells us why, it looks like we may be stuck.

[Not that Steve is going to sit quietly, he's just not sure what they can do at this point.]

As far as I know, neither did I. Is a thing like that even possible?

Uh.. yeah. Well it was only a theory till you guys had your big fight in New York.

[He rocks on his heels, glancing away from the Captain to look around at all the aliens with a brief bit of curiosity]

I mean if someone managed to open an Einstein-Rosen Bridge, which- well I can't say impossible because we're here but-... yeah.

Big fight in New York?

[He looks confused, probably not as much as he should be, they had been heading for New York to find Loki and the Tesseract. He just doesn't remember any of it happening.

His confusion grows more apparent when Peter rambles on more. Steve is not scientist; he's a soldier. He's also behind on so much it'll be almost impossible to catch him up on things.]

Speak English, Einstein-Rosen Bridge?

Uh.. [Peter stops to think, but he's at least good at speaking 'typical teenage kid' so he can dumb things down without too much issue] A wormhole, that's what happened in New York with you guys, that big opening in the sky was a wormhole, or well it looked like one on t.v.

A gateway to another plain, some theorize it could lead to another universe. I think that one just lead to deeper in space.

[He's not caught on yet that this might all be news to him]

[Wait, what. Slow down Peter, Steve has no idea what you're talking about.]

I haven't been to any fight in New York, kid. [He shakes his head, brow creasing as listens to the explanation and it seems simple enough.] So this bridge is a hole that leads from one place to another. Seems like you'd be able to see something like that before you walk through it. It wouldn't be invisible.

[Theoretically, because he hasn't seen one. Nope.]

[Okay back up, he's just noticed the time clashes here]

I think we're experiencing a time paradox too, which is freaky but yeah you had a pretty big fight in New York... like huge. Flying alien armies, the national guard was called in..

[He gestures to make a point, one hand going out. Really it made his little skuffle with Dr Connors look like nothing in comparison]

We were leaving the Helicarrier for New York. Somehow I showed up here.

[He frowns and shakes his head, his arms raising to cross over his chest.]

SHIELD was hoping to avoid a fight with the Chitauri.

... Whoa really big time paradox. Yeah... you definitely, definitely had a huge fight in New York that almost destroyed it but you won?

Yay?

[But of course this could screw up time and he's only thinking of it now which causes him to rub a hand over his face]

But that's... not- well it's important but it won't help us here!

Well that's good to hear.

[Knowing isn't going to keep Steve from trying his hardest. He'll want to limit casualties as much as possible and that means a hundred and ten percent from the super-soldier and his team. However stubborn and pig-headed they may be.]

No, it won't. I don't know anything powerful enough to do that across so many different time frames at once. Is something like that possible?
