TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the
outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.

Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.
φ Please give the name and canon of your character in the subject line! OCs and AUs are welcome.
φ You may use threads from this post as a log sample, so long as it has at least 5 of your comments in action tags or prose.
φ You can keep CR from this meme if both players agree to it OOCly, and so long as you keep interactions to these starting areas.
φ Apps open on 1/27; the game opens 2/2.
φ You can find more information on our setting here, and our navigation is here!

And honestly, if she had to be stuck somewhere, she wouldn't have picked Omega. Illium, maybe. Or the Citadel. She'd never minded the Citadel. But Omega's-- well, Omega. It's dirty and dreary and she knows the volus behind the counter is trying to charge her tourist rates.
Zoe huffs under her breath and turns away from the stall, looking around at the shops in the area. There's not a whole lot of food here she's in the mood to eat, and though she knows beggars can't be choosers, she's got at least enough credits on her for a snack. ]
Isn't there anywhere around here with cake pops?
no subject
It's crowded and a little noisy in the marketplace, but not so much that York doesn't overhear the woman nearby, and she can't help but crack a grin as she looks over. ]
Think you missed the shuttle to Candyland, sweetheart. I did see one guy frying something on a stick, but I can't promise you it was cake.

[ Zoe makes a face, head twisting back and forth to look through the market's wares before turning towards the woman who'd spoken up. She's entirely ready to keep going -- it just isn't right, not having better food around here -- but she stops short at the sight of that armor. ]
Whoa! Where'd you get those? They look... bulky.
[ ...says the girl who runs around the battlefield in superlight armor. ]
no subject
Yeah, I'm...startin' to feel a little old-fashioned, here.
[ York glances around, shrugging one shoulder. ]
I'm not exactly from around here.
no subject
[ Shrug. Zoe can deal with that. Some people are tourists, after all, and Benji's always telling her not to judge people by how they look. (Though seriously, that armor? Way too heavy.)
But the woman looks friendly enough, and Zoe manages a smile. ] So where're you from?
no subject
[ Do they even have an Earth in this universe? Where the shit are they? Space station, okay, she gets it, but where. ]
All right, it's kinda complicated.
no subject
[ Zoe grins, completely ignoring the rest of it-- it can't be that important. She doesn't like thinking about the state Earth's in right now, and what things must be like back home, but anyone from Earth's good with her. ]
no subject
[ Please don't let it be weird. Or let it be weird. One way or the other, York just has to know what the shit kind of universe she's in. ]
no subject
[ You're kind of weird, is what she'd add, but Zoe has been trying to keep that brain-to-mouth filter working more often. She's had enough lectures from her sister. ]
I don't think it's weird. If you want weird, try Arizona. That's where I grew up.
no subject
[ Okay, so being from Earth is not weird. Well, that's good. ]
You spend a lot of time around here?
[ York's still not sure how honest she can be about her situation, but maybe the woman will let a few things slip that'll give her a clue as to where she is. ]
no subject
[ The war's a pretty sobering topic, though, and Zoe's been doing her best not to dwell on it. When your day job is fighting the front lines of a galactic war, sometimes you need a break.
She scoffs at the other question, nose wrinkling. ]
What, on Omega? No way. This is not where I would have picked to go on leave.
no subject
[ At least she knows what this place is called now. She's still not sure what the status of Earth is here, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to ask.
York offers a hand, though, figuring that after this much conversation she might as well introduce herself. ]
I'm York, by the way.
no subject
[ Zoe takes her hand, but her expression just gets more confused, her nose scrunching up. ]
Why's your name York if you're from Jersey?
no subject
York shakes her hand anyway, though, letting out a snort. ]
Man, don't ask me. I didn't pick it.
no subject
So what're you doing on Omega? And seriously, have you seen anywhere around here with decent food?
no subject
no subject
[ Zoe beams up at her, not bothered by that in the last. ]
Then I guess we're in the same boat. Wanna help me look?
no subject
[ York gives her a little grin, though, nodding. ]
Yeah, all right. Not a bad plan, honestly, place like this. Just do me a favor, will you? You see anybody else in armor like this, you let me know.
let's join all the mass effect ocs, make an union
It's by chance that her eyes cross with Zoe. Mere chance. It's just the first person that doesn't look like she's going to sell drugs or try to break a deal with her. So Keelan walks over her and calls out, voice decoder working to mask her regular voice with a deeper, male voice. ]
Hey, you! [ She points at her. ] Did you see a big green krogan and a bitchy asari pass by?
sounds like a plan B)
She doesn't recognize the armor, but it sure as shit doesn't look like it's Alliance-issue. Zoe cocks an eyebrow in the man's direction. ]
Was I supposed to?
no subject
I would hope so. [ But, to be sincere, no, not really. At all. Raising a hand to her helmet, she rubs it in a symbolic gesture and groans. ] Shit. What time is it. [ Hmm, actually: ] And what day is it?
no subject
There's only one way she can interpret the way he reaches up for his head, though. Zoe tips her head at him, faint concern on her brow. ]
Pretty sure it's still Tuesday. Did you hit your head or something?
