Welcome to the outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.


Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.

[America decides, half because of her comment on burning and half because in his mind he's already decided that dragons should be able to breathe fire, that Iskierka definitely can. Using "stolen" instead of "kidnapped" or something similar is a little odd, but then again she's a dragon, so maybe that's normal.

He can jump onto the indignation, though.]

They grabbed me somehow, too! I don't know how, though--I mean, I wasn't going into space, or anything, I was just getting in a car. But maybe they've got teleportation, so I guess we'd have to steal that to get back before we do anything to them.

[There's a moment of silence before she speaks again. While she understands most of the words in America's answer there are some that are very literally from after her time, and try as she might she can't puzzle any sort of meaning out of them.]

What is a car, please?

It's this big--well, to you I guess it'd be small--metal box with wheels and an engine that you can use to get to places. It's faster than just walking.

[He outlines, roughly, the shape of a car with his hands as he speaks.]

[She peers at the shape, though it doesn't mean a whole lot to her. If she had an actual picture it might, but either way, she can't really see the point of it.]

I suppose it might be a fine thing, if one couldn't fly.

[fifty]

People don't have wings or anything, so if we want to fly we need planes. They're sort of like cars but they fly!

[He outlines a plane with his hands, too, though it's probably not any more help than the car outline.]

[letthemburn]

[It's really not, but Iskierka makes a concerted effort to pretend that it means something. (Here read: she actually pays decent attention instead of ignoring it out of hand.)]

Why, I don't see why people should have need of those, when they already have us.

[fifty]

There aren't dragons where I'm from. [America pauses, though, considering what she's said.] So there're humans where you're from?

[letthemburn]

[She nods again at the question.]

Oh yes. My captain is one, and so are the rest of my crew.

[fifty]

Your captain and crew? Like for a ship? [Was she a military dragon or something? America had to admit having dragons in the military would be pretty awesome.]

[letthemburn]

Oh, I am much finer than any ship.

[...when she's not this size, anyway. But that's besides the point. She's most definitely a military dragon, and has been pretty much ever since she hatched.]

[fifty]

[It takes America a few moments to parse that, and even when he does he isn't sure if he heard right.]

You're the ship? Or--dragon instead of a ship?

Do you not have the Aerial Corps where you are from?

[Sure, she doesn't know about "cars" or "planes," but everyone has to know about the Aerial Corps, right?]

[fifty]

I've got an Air Force. [Which doesn't sound exactly like an Aerial Corps, but it's the closest thing he can think of based just off the name.] You're the first dragon I've ever seen, though. We just use planes.

[letthemburn]

Oh, I am certain we are much better than any planes.

[Unless planes can breath fire, at which point she might concede that they're at least sort of useful, if nowhere near as good as she is.]
