TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the
outsiders test drive meme! You can use this post to tag with characters you're interested in bringing to the game or who you'd like to try out in the setting.

Please set all threads in one of three areas: the landing zone, where your character get off the shuttle upon arrival; the markets, where your character might run into any of the station's alien population; or in the residential district they'll be staying in.
φ Please give the name and canon of your character in the subject line! OCs and AUs are welcome.
φ You may use threads from this post as a log sample, so long as it has at least 5 of your comments in action tags or prose.
φ You can keep CR from this meme if both players agree to it OOCly, and so long as you keep interactions to these starting areas.
φ Apps open on 1/27; the game opens 2/2.
φ You can find more information on our setting here, and our navigation is here!

Maeby Funke | Arrested Development | OTA (markets)
[The terminal in front of her gave a contemplative whirl...but then just offered a list of option again. What the *bleep*. It was like trying to talk to a studio secretary. Or her mother after the first bottle of vodka. She may as well be screaming to herself. Ugh.
Maeby gave an aggravated snarl, nearly stepping away...and then, oh, yeah. Right. All the weird turtle and bird and...scuba diving enthusiasts? things everywhere. That's why she was trying to deal with HAL over here instead of demanding answers off the street. A lot of those teeth looked a little too pointy for her health. So. Back it was to the yelling at the Mac mines.]
Speaky english? I want to talk to someone in charge! I can't be kidnapped right now! No one will even notice!

Still, she can't resist sidling up next to Maeby, raising an eyebrow as she looks down at the terminal over Maeby's shoulder. At least York's familiar with the tech level around here. ]
Y'know, I don't think these things respond all that well to verbal abuse. Must be one of the older models.

[It was then that Maeby glanced up and over at the voice that had appeared behind her- and immediately took a laaaaarge side step away. From the armor. And the guns. How was this even happening to her? Time to put hands up in a nice, innocent gesture of 'please, I'm too beautiful to be murdered while I'm still a virgin.']
Uh. I didn't do it?
no subject
I'm not lookin' to get you into trouble, kiddo. You look a little lost, though. Not in Kansas anymore?
no subject
Hey, it comes with movie references. Cool. And, yeah. We passed Kansas about ten freak outs ago.
no subject
[ Maeby is sassy. York likes that. She offers a rueful grin, shrugging one shoulder. ]
Anyway, I'm York. You got a name, kiddo?
no subject
[Oh, yeah. The fact her name sounds like 'maybe' comes with a small smirk. And, now, time to try the time that always manages to fool the self-absorbed and idiotic]
And kiddo? Marry me. Or tip my plastic surgeon.
i want you to know the idea of maeby in space is the best thing ever.
And a kid is something that makes her stop. Kids aren't all that rare a sight these days, with how many have been orphaned in the war, but all alone on Omega is something of a stretch.
Zoe stops behind the girl and puts a hand on her shoulder, head tilted to the side. ] Hey, are you okay?
thank you! at least in space, no one can hear her lie?
[Maeby steps and twists away from the sudden contact, ignoring the question for now. Okay. So. It's a girl- woman. Person. Thing. No one that looks about to take her wallet (which, hey, at least someone would take it. No one here seemed that interested in her
mom'svisa card.)]Hey, there. Buy a girl dinner before getting handsy, huh?
oh, maeby.
[ Zoe raises her hands in a universal sign of "I didn't mean it like that," and she takes a half-step back to give the kid some space. Least she's got teeth. That's a good quality to have here. ]
Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you. Are you lost?
no subject
That doesn't even start to cover it. What- are you, like, the truancy officer or something?
no subject
I don't think Omega even has schools. I'm an N7.
[ She says the last part with a measure of pride, expecting it to be recognized. The title's new enough that Zoe's getting used to it herself, but she can't say she minds the looks she gets. ]
no subject
Are we just making up job titles to scam people now? Because, from one professional to another, you have to start with acronyms that could actually spell something. Like TBD.
no subject
not that he can actually do anything to help but conditioned reflex and all.
he drifts over to Maeby and does that helpfully hovering store salesperson thing. he might be a Nerd Herder but he's had to help out the sales staff a few times. ]
Maybe there's an emergency services option? Or a "push button in case of 'where the heck am I?'"
[ said with a professionally courteous smile ]
no subject
I think it's defective.
