[ Zoe would say she's got her own places to be, but to be honest this isn't a mission, even if Hackett had sent them out on one. It wasn't her fault the shuttle landed somewhere else. So she's been taking a leisurely walk through the markets, trying to find something decent to eat and taking in the sights.

And a kid is something that makes her stop. Kids aren't all that rare a sight these days, with how many have been orphaned in the war, but all alone on Omega is something of a stretch.

Zoe stops behind the girl and puts a hand on her shoulder, head tilted to the side. ] Hey, are you okay?

thank you! at least in space, no one can hear her lie?

[Maeby steps and twists away from the sudden contact, ignoring the question for now. Okay. So. It's a girl- woman. Person. Thing. No one that looks about to take her wallet (which, hey, at least someone would take it. No one here seemed that interested in her mom's visa card.)]

Hey, there. Buy a girl dinner before getting handsy, huh?

oh, maeby.

Whoa!

[ Zoe raises her hands in a universal sign of "I didn't mean it like that," and she takes a half-step back to give the kid some space. Least she's got teeth. That's a good quality to have here. ]

Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you. Are you lost?

[Well. Alright. That's good enough for Maeby, whose survival skills end right about the point that it becomes annoying to use them.]

That doesn't even start to cover it. What- are you, like, the truancy officer or something?

[ Zoe can't help the laugh that bubbles up, eyebrows rising. ]

I don't think Omega even has schools. I'm an N7.

[ She says the last part with a measure of pride, expecting it to be recognized. The title's new enough that Zoe's getting used to it herself, but she can't say she minds the looks she gets. ]

[Complete blank look of non-recognition, that's about the only way to describe Maeby's face at that.]

Are we just making up job titles to scam people now? Because, from one professional to another, you have to start with acronyms that could actually spell something. Like TBD.
